January Markets - Welcome to the New Year!

The January markets enjoyed perfect weather. What a relief from the previous hot weather! There were about 30 stalls for visitors to enjoy, including seasonal produce - hazelnuts, garlic, potatoes, eggs, honey etc - all from our region. Lots of arts and crafts too. We also had a visit for the first time of a seller of welded steel fire-pits. A huge rage of artistic pieces.

We were entertainment by Martin Lambert from about 11am to 1pm. Martin is a solo guitarist re-interpreting classic hits from the Seventies era and original jazz/blues-flavoured compositions.

November Markets - Country, Roots and Blues (CRAB) Music Festival

November 17, 2018

WOW! What a day! Weather was great almost 50 stall and lots of visitors.

But, the SPECIAL event was what made this market different - the inaugural Cooma Country, Roots and Blues (CRAB) music festival. There were four high quality acts that entertained us for the day - Stormcellar, Den Hanrahan, Bonnie Kay & the Bonafides and Matt Southon. Lots of great feedback - and yes, we do plan to do it again next year!!

Thanks to everyone who came along and a special thanks Michael Barry from Stormcellar for organising the entertainment and to the performers who all travelled to Cooma. And it was all for FREE! This was made possible by Stormcellar and Cooma Rotary Club - providing service to the community.

August 19, 2018

The August markets were COLD! At the finish we had snow flurries. We ended up with with 11 stallholders braving the cold and windy conditions.

Despite the weather, we raised just under $1,300 for the Drought Relief Appeal. A big THANKYOU to everyone who contributed!

July Markets

July 18, 2018

After a cold and foggy start to the day, the sun came out mid-morning and things warmed up! We had 24 stalls. The hot food, including homemade soup was appreciated by our visitors - many passing through on the way to the snow. Speaking of which .... Loie & Ray Herbert were there holding their winter 2nd hand Ski Gear Charity Sale - to raise funds for the mountain people of Nepal. Depending on circumstances, they intend to be at the August markets - so stay tuned to this website!

June Markets

June 16, 2018

Despite being reasonable weather for a winters day (cool, partly overcast) visitor numbers were low and a number of stallholders cancelling due to Bureau of Meteorology forecast of high wind and rain - neither of which occurred! As a result we had 16 stallholders, and a smaller than usual market. Those that did attend had a nice day!

Fantastic May Markets!

May 20, 2018

The May Market was fantastic! Great weather - Sunny (maybe a bit cool to start with). We had almost 50 stalls and great entertainment from JEB 3 on the stage. We had quite a number of community groups attend too, which was great. These included RSPCA's "Million Paws Walk", the MHERV Mens' Health Van, the Cooma Scouts, Berridale CWA, RFS, Monaro Rail Trail and LAOKO.

We  also had the Australian Army come through! They were from the Royal Military College – Duntroon. They are conducting a peace-keeping training exercise in Cooma until 1 June. They are also planning an open day on 26 May from 9.00am to 1.00pm at the Railway Station. (more information on Council's website)

April Market - windy but very entertaining!

April 14, 2018

Despite the windy weather, and lower than usual visitor and stallholder numbers, the April markets were very entertaining! Blues band "Stormcellar" was a great hit, playing for almost 3 hours. The band said they loved playing in such a great location, to such an enthusiastic audience. "Stormcellar" was supported by local entertainer, Oscar Litchfield. Oscar entertained with many of his own compositions. Great to see locally grown talent entertaining to such a high standard and enthusiasm. I'm sure we'll see a lot more of Oscar.
